Uberlin is now 90% confirmed, with details of the total awesomeness that will be happening in Jonglier Katakomben in September due some time this week.
Coming up in September, we will be holding U-Berlin in association with Jonglier Katakomben. All details are very close to being confirmed, so watch this space.
The incredible Val has made an amazing Clubswinging video, combining th ebest of juggling, spinning and staff geekery to create something i will be paying to learn at some point....
an incredible document (all in french) about pattern theory. amazing, amazing stuff. the textbased version of megs lab 2, and should provide us with patterns for some time.
makes me want to finish all the articles i am writing (fishtails, point isolations, encyclopaediae....)
Zan and AlienJon tripped their way through Arizona and brought out this rather tasty (though fractionally long) video of very techy patterns. worth watching for the editing and effects, as well as the Skillz that are very much on show:
The Third Australian Uber event-hence UberOz3- was held from 28th-31st August 2008.
Here is the publicity info from the event:
UberOz3 will offer up to 16 workshops in state of the art skills from our amazing international and Ozzie teachers, as well as yoga, movement and group creativity sessions, a fantastic fire party and and great social times, including fully catered lunches and a fantastic Fire Party.
so, my spinning in this one is decidedly below par, but its worth sitting through to get to the club goddess that is maelle, and the incredible skills of ronan, my favourite spinner in the world, no arguments.
The stupendously talented Kyle McLean also keeps a very fine Blog, including this review of 2UberOz over on www.everyoneishappy.com.
meg has also pointed me in the direction of a new Fire Groove video. Lovely bunch from the west coast of the US with high production values and good skillz:
It's now been 6 months since the last uber, but there are certainly plans for more in the future.
Hopefully we'll be in berlin at the end of the year, and Gabe is already planning Ubercube (or 3berOz....) later this year in Brisbane.
The site has been a little inactive recently while a million and one things happen, but we have tutorials to add, videos to blog, and PLANS being hatched.
so, it's been a while since we've blogged on here, but it's time to get it going again since hundreds of nice spinning videos have been coming out of the woodwork in the last feew months, as well as the uncovering of many older ones for our viewing pleasure.
Last week we found out that Magie Alvarez Calleja aka Maddi/Maiuki was killed in an explosion in Yemen. She had been travelling the country and was to have remained there two months.
Magie was a fantastic spirit, a beautiful dancer, and a constant smile at UberParis. She was a good friend to many of us, and will be missed. We have many pictures to post and will do so shortly.
I haven't got the energy to do the whole thing right now, but I feel like I should do it soon before i forget....
However, suffice to say it was absolutely incredible. great teachers, hosts, fire, performances, friendliness, amazing skills - easily the highest concentration of talented spinners I have ever seen in one place....
so:
Massive THANK YOUs to
Das and all of Burn Crew Concept, for such hard work, and for making it all possible
Shivan and everyone who hosted some lost spinners while they were in Paris
All the teachers - nothing but positive feedback, and some very, VERY inspired people left your workshops.
Vulcan Cheesesteak:
Poi! Some decent tech poi and some very good dance poi from Ian Smith, as well as the first sighting of the 'chu chu snake' in the wild thanks to Noel. (Doubles and Poi.)
This workshop will teach the basics of how to 'count' music so that choreography becomes easier to manage and synchronisity becomes a doddle. We'll then put the theory to practice and create our own - perfectly synchronised - routine. Open to all levels. Bring a staff and a happy face
